APBA Professional

APBA defines a professional as a member of a profession or person with a specified professional activity. They have particular knowledge and skills necessary to perform their specific role within their profession. They are qualified to a minimum of first degree or holds membership of a recognised professional body. Whether they are members of a professional body or not, APBA professionals must be committed to competence, integrity and morality, altruism, and the promotion of the public good within their expert domain. Professionals are accountable to those they serve and to society.

Society attaches the professional label only to certain occupations such as doctors and lawyers. APBA’s definition of the term ‘professional’ is anchored upon ‘person with authority’ rather than occupation or field of work. To us, the professional must be a person in or is likely to be appointed into or attain a position of authority, power or leadership
