APBA Businesses

APBA defines a Business as an organisation or enterprising entity engaged in commercial, industrial or professional activities. It may transact its business through the production of a good, offering of a service or retailing of already manufactured products. A business can be a for-profit entity or a nonprofit organisation that operates to fulfill a charitable mission. Businesses include everything from a small owner-operated company, such as a family restaurant, to a multinational conglomerate. It can be privately owned, state-owned or a combination of the two and may involve an individual or group of people that collaborate to achieve certain commercial goals. The entity must have acquired its own ‘identity’ as a business through for instance registration with a regulatory body and its operations are governed by law.

Criteria

Business membership criteria

  • Properly constitute business with a recognised business status

  • Declare a commitment to anti-corruption practices

  • Have an anti-corruption statement/policy or agree to have one in place

  • Been in operation for at least 2 years

  • Meet APBA’s definition of ‘Business’ conditions

  • Not engaged in legal battle in a criminal court

  • Without a questionable business practice record

  • Prepared to sign to APBA's  Code of Ethics and operate by the same 

  • Committed to APBA's values    

 

Membership Options

Affiliate member

  • You are only required to meet the membership criteria shown above

Full membership

  • Certified/certificated members who meet the membership criteria + Meet our Anti-corruption framework for businesses seeking to be certified

Partner membership

  • Meets all the conditions for Affiliate & Full membership + is in partnership with APBA e.g. training and developing its staff

When you apply

  • We will check for the completeness of your application

  • Where applicable we will take up references and check validity of supporting documents

  • Confirm your membership enrollment and send you a confirmation letter by mail

  • Any other membership evidence e.g. Membership Certificate (where applicable) will follow by post
